2014, workshop with medical practitioners and researchers
The word doctor comes from a root which means "learned person" or "teacher"; the word patient comes from a root meaning “suffering”. Could we look at moments in their relationship where the doctor doesn’t feel like the learned one and the patient is more than someone who just suffers?
Patient Films was a six month film-making workshop with seven medical practitioners and researchers that held this question. Meeting at St. John's Research Institute, Bangalore, we explored doctor-patient and researcher-patient relationships that we felt were not addressed in the regulatory language of medical ethics protocols.
