2014, workshop with medical practitioners and researchers
The word doctor comes from a root which means "learned person" or "teacher"; the word patient comes from a root meaning “suffering”. Could we look at moments in their relationship where the doctor doesn’t feel like the learned one and the patient is more than someone who just suffers? Patient Films was a six month filmmaking workshop with seven medical practitioners and researchers that engaged this question. Meeting at St. John's Research Institute, Bangalore, we explored narratives of doctor-patient and researcher-patient relationships that were not addressed by regulatory medical ethics protocols.
